Island Beach State Park New Jersey
Long Beach Island, New Jersey – It was a foggy day so I though it could make make for some cool shots. This one was taken under the causeway bridge looking towards the mainland. I decided to mess around with some textures some more and applied two of them to this picture. I’m noticing that it has become increasingly difficult to name my pictures I might be giving it up, I feel it takes me so much time just to think of a name these days. The problem can be attributed to the fact that I tend to take pictures in similar places and having 100+ pictures posted there are only so many creations I can come up with without getting to wild or crazy in depth.

Waretown, New Jersey – I took this photo a few hours before hurricane hurricane Irene hit the area. I thought the name fit the situation and the content pretty well as the birds seemed like they were waiting for the storm. Actually I think it’s the best fitting title out of all in my collection. I especially like how everything in the picture came out silhouetted and the ominous sky which makes this one of my new favorites.
The one positive thing about being on a midnight work schedule is not having to wake up to get pictures of the sunrise. I was wide awake at 2am and decided it’s been a while since I’ve gotten any good pictures. I researched what time the sunrise was going to be using a program called “The Photographer’s Ephemeris” which also gives you the exact heading too. Here’s the link if you would like to check it out. The Photographer’s Ephemeris Using it I looked up a couple places that I thought would offer the best sunrise picture and ultimately decided to go out to the Mountain.
Just a little post hurricane photography a day after Irene hit the Jersey Shore. The photo was taken at a place known as the “bridge to nowhere” in Manahawkin NJ
It’s been a while since I’ve been contacted to do some custom work. Today I got a call saying that these guys had caught a shark and wanted some pictures. So I headed down to the dock and got a couple good shots, such as this one here. Hopefully the clients pictured here will be happy with the result of the picture and strength of the HDR (animated) type look which I really wanted to do. If not I can always change things up and re edit the photo to their specifications. These custom jobs can be password protected to protect anyone getting custom work done from Diverse Image, just a little FYI if your interested in getting some custom services and wouldn’t want it public such as these photos here.
I downloaded a trial of Color Efex and really like it so far. It’s a little pricey so I’m not positive that I will be purchasing it any time soon though. I like the effect that I picked to use with this photo here. The effect was a two color type filter which made the sky a cool color and the ground and stream a warmer tone.
The significance of this day is about the devotion and sacrifice that men and women have made to this country. It’s not just another three day weekend which celebrates the beginning of summer and nice weather to come. Memorial day isn’t even about the troops that continue to fight around the world that won’t be getting together at the BBQ, on the beach, by the lake, or wherever family and good friends meet up this weekend. This day is about those of which have paid the ultimate sacrifice when called upon in conflicts around the globe. It’s about the many whom you can’t thank in person and those who will never get the chance to spend that time together again with family and good friends. Above all this day is about them, to the individuals who have given their lives up for this country, you are gone but certainly not forgotten.
This picture was taken at Southern Regional High School Memorial Day weekend. The students placed the 6,040 flags on Thursday and had a ceremony on Friday morning. It’s a powerful reminder of the lives we have lost during the recent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
I apologize for the extend time it has taken me to post a new picture. It is unusual for me to take the time that it did to update with a new one. New job requirements and my current school obligation have unfortunately put photography on the back burner. I was just starting to get in the habit of posting around three times a week and I’m hoping I will be able to again reach that point. I’m confident that I will once I get used to my new schedule, so for now just bear with me.
This picture is from my most recent set of pictures that I took one morning. I was up pretty early and knew I had to get some new material, so I went on mission to get a picture of the sunrise. It’s been a while since I’ve had the motivation to get out of bed this early. This picture doesn’t illustrate the sunrise that much, but I though it made for a cool shot anyhow. I will post some others from this morning that include more focus on the sunrise.
This is an area where a small stream runs through the lake. The majority of what you see here is usually underwater. This location was the very northern most part of the lake.
